Terms of Service

Last updated: September 9, 2026

These Terms govern your use of ALYA's website, app, and related language-learning services (the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement.

The Service

ALYA provides Spanish-learning videos with synchronized transcripts, translations, word glosses, pronunciation, saved vocabulary, progress tracking, reminders, and a companion experience. Public videos stream from YouTube; ALYA supplies the learning layer.

Some learning content is generated or processed with AI and may be incomplete or inaccurate. ALYA is an educational aid, not a certified translation service or substitute for professional instruction. Verify important information independently.

Accounts

You are responsible for your account and for keeping access credentials secure. Information you provide must be accurate. You may delete your account in app settings; deletion is permanent.

Subscriptions

Access to the app may require an ALYA Plus subscription. Monthly and annual options, current prices, and any trial available to you are shown before purchase. Trials are offered only when the App Store confirms eligibility.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the displayed price unless canceled before renewal. If a trial applies, it converts to the selected paid plan unless canceled before the trial ends. Manage or cancel through Apple subscription settings; previous purchases can be restored in ALYA. Refunds are handled under Apple's policies.

We may change features or usage limits. Price changes and subscription notices will be handled as required by the App Store and applicable law.

Acceptable Use

Do not misuse the Services, break the law, infringe others' rights, interfere with security or operation, scrape or bulk-download content, bypass access or payment controls, reverse engineer except where law permits, or use ALYA to generate harmful or abusive material.

Content and Intellectual Property

ALYA and its software, design, branding, and learning layer belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Services. YouTube videos remain subject to their creators' rights and YouTube's Terms of Service.

Third-Party Services

The Services depend on third parties including Apple, YouTube, Clerk, Convex, RevenueCat, Expo, Deepgram, and xAI. Their own terms may apply, and we are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk or harm, or if needed to protect or discontinue the Services. Provisions that by nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

Disclaimers and Liability

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and do not guarantee uninterrupted service or the accuracy of AI-generated content. To that same extent, ALYA will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liability that cannot legally be limited.

Changes and Contact

We may update these Terms and will provide notice of material changes where required. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
